The tale of two trackers

I’m all for a little healthy competition…as long as you don’t get lost in the results.

I recently took part in a calorie burn competition; one I knew going in was impossible to achieve.  How did I know this? I did my research.

I wore two trackers..my fitbit and my myzone which was the official tracking device.

The room was electric.  The music started to play; the beat began to rise and the workout began. Nonstop heart pumping movement. Punches, kicks, burpees, cardio…

I showed up and pushed myself  to extraordinary limits.

The time was extended a bit because, like I said,  impossible for a female at a weight below a certain level to achieve.

Here are the results.  There is a 6 minute difference in time as the fitbit began recording my movement before the myzone…

However… that is not the part that caught my attention.

Look at the difference in the calories burned.

🤔 🤷‍♀️

783 versus 1,179. Hmmmm.

Take aways…

I suspect the true number lies somewhere within the 400 calorie deficit.

Technology isn’t the best indicator of how well you perform. Your body will supply those answers.

Not all competitions are designed for your success.

Your self-worth and accomplishments are not tied to a goal someone else sets for you.

I am a strong and fierce woman of 60 who performed as well as, and in some cases far better than, people much younger than me.

My rate of recovery and resilience is amazing.

I’d do it again because when all was said and done I had a blast!
